FIRST LOOK AT DRIVING THE 2018 JAGUAR F-TYPE

The F-Type model was first released in 2013 as Jaguar’s signature sports car. It embodies the true characteristics of the Jaguar brand; it’s stylish, expensive and extremely fast. It’s virtually everything you could possibly want in a two-seater performance vehicle.

To freshen up the F-Type for the 2018 model year, Jaguar is offering a wide array of new features and variations, with 24 different ways to take home an F-Type vehicle! The new variations such as choosing a ragtop or fixed roof give drivers flexibility to choose the model best suited to their preferences.

The 2018 model known for carving corners and rumbling like a true Jaguar is the 2.0 liter turbo-4 F-Type. Through the city it rides calm but when you get out to the highway, the torque can be unleashed to enjoy every bit of the Jaguar smoothness. The acceleration relies on a progressive, easy to control throttle as opposed to an overbearing power delivery.

Pop it in Sport mode and soak up the 296 horsepower, speeding from 0-60 mph in approximately 5.4 seconds. The turbo-4 engine cuts the curbweight of the vehicle to only 3,360 pounds which is 115 pounds less than the V-6 model. You also can’t beat the fuel economy given that it is a performance sports car with 30 mpg highway, 23 mpg city and 26 combined.

Enough about the numbers. As you have your foot on the pedal, the F-Type growls with excitement as the vehicle charges through the wind. There will be more noise than just from under the hood as the sounds are poured in through the vehicle’s audio system. You can even choose an optional switchable exhaust system to open up the valves for even more noise stimulation.

The 8-speed transmission performs seamlessly under-pressure, revving through the gears with quick burst of energy. You can control the transmission with the paddle shifters on the steering wheel or sit back and cruise in Sport mode.
